PURCHEM Polyurethane Enamel

Characteristics:

Suspension of pigments and fillers in a solution of acrylic resins in organic solvents with the addition of auxiliaries. PURCHEM is a two-component acrylic topcoat paint, based on a combination of acrylic resin and an aliphatic isocyanate hardener.

Product properties:

Polyurethane enamel has good application properties. It can be used for painting work with various application techniques – brush, roller, pneumatic spray, or hydrodynamic spray. The paint creates very well-adhering, durable, and flexible protective-decorative coatings with high durability and resistance to impact and abrasion. It has excellent covering power and very good adhesion to previously applied coatings. The obtained coatings are smooth, resistant to variable weather conditions. Good UV resistance. High resistance to water, mineral and vegetable oils, greases, turpentine, kerosene, aliphatic derivatives of petroleum, and moderately aggressive chemicals. Recommended as a topcoat in epoxy and polyurethane coating systems.

Intended use:

The paint is intended for use as a topcoat in polyurethane and epoxy coating systems, in objects exposed to atmospheric influences and chemical aggression. For final painting of agricultural and construction machinery, above-water parts of floating sports equipment, ships, bridge structures, steel structures, metal elements – where high resistance to mechanical, chemical, and atmospheric factors is required. Designed to protect steel, cast iron, other metal elements, and some plastics used in various working conditions. PURCHEM paint is used for final painting of equipment and fittings, previously primed with EPOXCHEM epoxy primer. The paint can also be used to renovate old, well-adhering coatings where no subcoating corrosion occurs. During renovation work, a thorough inspection of the old paint coatings should be carried out. It is not necessary to remove coatings in good condition. However, the adhesion of remaining coatings should be evaluated. Adhesion testing can be done using the grid-cut method, according to PN-EN ISO 2409 (10), the pull-off method, according to PN-EN 24624:1994 (13), or other methods. Subcoating corrosion is assessed by locally lifting the paint coating and inspecting the exposed surface. Damaged coatings down to the metal should be primed with EPOXCHEM epoxy primer after proper cleaning. Remaining good coatings should be degreased, sanded, and dusted off before applying a new paint coating. Well-prepared and cross-linked coatings improve interlayer adhesion. Ionic contaminants can be removed by washing the surface with pressurized water. Cleaning and degreasing of the surface can be carried out by manual or mechanical methods using steam, water with detergent, organic solvents, emulsifiers, and alkaline or acidic agents. The method of spraying water solutions with biodegradable detergents is particularly recommended for economic and environmental reasons. After washing and degreasing with water-based cleaning agents, it is recommended to thoroughly rinse the surface with clean tap water. Degreasing with solvents may be additionally carried out after cleaning the surface by other methods if contamination is observed.
